I'm just here so I won't get fined.
I mean yeah. He doesn't care about the next tenant. He only cares about himself. Whether he's there for 3 years or 3 months.

I had a similar thing happen last night when I was looking for a half-remembered video about Michael Sheen returning his OBE.

Tina Fey, Will Forte

Yeah that would rule. I thought the amount that was given to the crazy Eagle guy was a bit much (would have rather just cut the character and saved Rooker for something else) but if it's setting him up as Uncle Sam, I'm into it.

I have been reminded of Troye Sivan, so make that four nickels.

Great record! I got to go to the Chicago show at a tiny 300-person venue. It was electric. Got the vinyl and CD there too.

I saw they're doing a 20th anniversary steelbook of Aeon Flux and it made me even more upset that we still don't have Speed Racer.

I knew I was missing something

I absolutely wish violence on Dave Portnoy.

Obviously the shooter was a trans Muslim gang member from San Chicagoyork

He didn't apologize because he denies it happened. You can't apologize for something you didn't do. Whether or not you believe his denial is up to you.

We don't see the people who created Luthen's artifacts, so who's to say they aren't aliens? Just because we only see a few in the show doesn't mean they don't exist in the wider universe which we in fact know they do.

Yes, a galactic standard year is based on Coruscant, which conveniently has the same cycle as Earth. (24 hour days, 365 day years)

Yes that's basically how they're presented but it's more like 50% probability so a 6% bet.

At this point, I worry that the best thing to do is steer into the skid and teach kids stats in terms of parlays and gambling. Sort of like sex education; you have to teach them the risks because teaching abstinence doesn't work.
July 22, 2025 at 4:27 PM
The trick with parlays is that a small bet can pay out big money if all of the events happen, but as anyone with a basic knowledge of stats knows, probability gets smaller very quickly. Most adults don't even really grasp this, let alone HS students.
July 22, 2025 at 4:25 PM
Unfortunately, I'm sure the kids also don't really understand what they're talking about either. The way a parlay works is that you're betting that a bunch of independent events will happen. Each independent event usually has a decent chance, but when combined, those odds drop quickly.

My thing is that I'm happy or upset about the team I've built an emotional relationship with for 3 decades and dude rolls up like "I had $300 on that game" or something. Like your poor financial decisions are meaningless to me in this moment.
