Just bought a dehumidifier after years of being on the fence and it's proven it's worth in just a day. Tiny apartment in the tropics means 70% humidity on a regular day and 80+ on a bad one. Air feels much lighter and breathable, musty smell gone.

At the thrift store, thought it was a PS1 with faded markings.

I watched Jurassic Park in HD for the first time (last time I saw it, I was still using a VHS rewinder shaped like a car) and I am still very bitter that browsing files isn't as cool as I thought it would be.

Some screengrabs. It's less of a music video and more of a moody short film with its own original soundtrack. It has some excellent close-ups and moody lighting.

The sight glass also shows a much stronger, almost milky flow. An experienced tech can get it even colder but we're not that. Overfilling is also bad and it's difficult to tell as a newbie if you did. So, 50PSI on a hot summer mid-day is good enough.

This is the reading post-refill. Unfortunately, I am not an expert and I couldn't find any technical document for the Sanden 507 compressor's correct gauge readings. Thus, I'm settling for a ballpark figure of 50PSI on the low pressure side. The air is now much much colder. Good enough.

We're also looking at the sight glass to see the flow of R134A. We can see a tiny bit flowing.
April 16, 2025 at 12:15 PM
This is the reading pre-refill. The high-side gauge isn't working as its hose has a small tear. We're below 20PSI and there's barely any cold in the blowing air.

Summer in the Philippines means a 40C+ heat index daily. While summer is always hot, it being unbearable and dangerous seems to me to be a recent-ish phenomenon, thanks to global warming. That means AC is a must for comfort - and unfortunately, my car's AC wasn't up to snuff.
