Now to be fair, instead of paying. 20 or 30 a month fee you paid 200-300 for office plus still had to upgrade every year or at least two because you’d find yourself incompatible with the updates document formats everyone else had, or an OS update, or needing better hardware.

I remember when you could tape any damn thing you liked off TV and keep it on a shelf for however long you liked. How come we had more capability with VHS tapes on 1988 than with any tech we have now.

It's just a back-door layoff plan anyway -- you tell all your workers come back to the office, knowing a good percentage will quit on their own. The problem with any sort of "make them miserable until they quit" policy is good workers with qualifications will leave, then you just have everyone else.
