No Kings in NoVA. A crowd of about 600 in a very small town.

Mine is a little bigger but stilly a furry beast who brings me joy and peace every single day.

Peeves saying good morning to Dearly Beloved. And wondering if maybe he has something yummy for breakfast.

Guess who?

Peeves, that’s who.

I look for moments of beauty and peace every day. Today it was the red top fescue in the evening light.

These pictures are the result of a “little fight” between a husband and my beloved little sister. She did not survive the last one. Domestic violence is always a crime; anyone saying otherwise is despicable. And more often than not, the woman and her children are the ones who suffer most.

It’s August so Friday Flowers are few and far between. In lieu of them, here is a barn cat being helpful and Peeves enjoying an early morning stroll.

Vet wrap fence repair. Fence board came down right at sunset and I didn’t want to dig out all the tools to fix it.

I had to get out the big ladder to harvest tomatoes yesterday.

The tomato forest is beginning to produce. Half don’t make it into the house. Paul Robeson turns out to be the perfect sandwich tomato which is great because about twelve are going to ripen at the same time. I may have to climb out onto the roof to harvest more Sungolds.

Morning magnolia. So sad I can’t also post the fragrance.

A heat index of 124 is a new record for my farm. Tomorrow is supposed to be even hotter.
June 23, 2025 at 11:30 PM
Heat index here is 118. It’s actually too hot to stand with a hose to keep the garden alive.

Saturday pollinators and an adorable horse.

A couple flowers and a horse on a diet.

Friday Flowers on Saturday and a horse.

Good hoof on the left, bad hoof on the right. You can see the pocket of air where the white line disease created separation of the hoof wall. You can also see the different angles of the bone relative to the sole.

No matter how many horses you have, there will be days when you don’t have a healthy, sound horse to ride. Rock Star Paint had hoof resection due to white line disease and wooden clogs applied this week. He should recover fully, but in time.

This weeks #FridayFlowers Roses and digitalis. The delphinium are slow to bloom this year. They would normally be in this picture.
May 24, 2025 at 12:19 PM
Roses are starting to bloom. Mid season peonies are opening and the dogwoods are grabbing the spotlight at the edge of the woods. #FridayFlowers
