This was my sister’s cat. His official name was Emmett, but everyone called him the Angry Yeti.

The response one of my senators just sent me after I contacted them and asked them to support the NPS:
Thank you for contacting my office regarding staff reduction at the National Park Service. The Trump Administration, acting through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), is working to reduce bureaucratic inefficiency and streamline federal services. In 2019, the federal government spent $4.4 trillion dollars. In 2024, it was nearly $6.9 trillion. That’s roughly a 55% increase in just five years. This level of unchecked spending is unacceptable. With DOGE, we can take meaningful steps to ensure taxpayer dollars are used more responsibly. As a part of this effort, the Trump Administration has reduced staffing at the National Park Service. The National Park Service manages 433 parks, including five units in Nebraska. I will continue to monitor the impacts of this decision to ensure our national park units remain well-maintained and accessible for all to enjoy. My primary mission as your United States Senator is to make government work with proven Nebraskan solutions that are ready for America. To better inform my decision-making, it is important that I hear the ideas, concerns, and opinions of all Nebraskans. I appreciate the time and effort you took to provide input on the staff reduction at the National Park Service and will continue to monitor the situation.
