Michael, you’re just wrong on Alonso. You ignore the fact that he has one skill (homers) and is in decline already at age 30. Do you expect Stearns to give him what he wants so he can have his name in Mets record books? That is an awful decision and something Eppler would do

If you were the GM you’d give him whatever he wants. Stearns’ job is to make the best decisions for the Mets, not to appease the fan base
