Yet more evidence that any given specific NIMBY objection to a project is, more often than not, a shell game for generalized opposition to change—it's merely the most compelling sounding argument—and addressing such individual concerns will usually not meaningfully reduce opposition.

Many of the tech & business owners probably have side-gigs as landlords, and/or large RE portfolios. Execs are very often NIMBYs and don’t want more people living near their large urban homes.

the way to address the affordability crisis and get more housing diversity - with better and more family sized homes - requires single stair & elevator reform.

They get gentrified when not enough housing gets built though. And often it’s the “anti-gentirification” advocates who insist on BANANA: build absolutely nothing anywhere near anything
