In other words, some broad event is taking place in some way, whether globally or around this person’s life. And look, here they are frustrated with the parking meter. I’m definitely aware of the cosmic joke of it all.

Caught a screening of the Timothee Chalamet Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown last night. There's a review embargo, but "social sentiment" is OK, so here's my reaction in a few sentences. Overall: Pretty good!

Overall, pretty good! The first half is a bit too much of a standard rock biopic crossed with Forrest Gump for my taste. But as Dylan begins to reject the box he's been put in, things get interesting. The climactic electric Newport set — somewhat apocryphal in the details but emotionally true for dyed-in-the-wool folk music believers — leaves you sympathetic to Dylan's desire to chart his own path and to fans for whom Dylan's music offered stability in a tumultuous era. Stray notes: — Edward Norton is excellent as Pete Seeger. His relationship with Dylan is the most developed one in the movie. — Speaking of relationships, Elle Fanning does what she can with a pretty thankless role as "Sylvie Russo" (aka Suze Rotolo). — Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez... wow.
