Luckily, I nabbed this book from the library when the ebook version on hold through Libby had several months of wait time.

I am only 30 pages in and it is a delight! So much real science for such a goofy premise, it makes me giddy. @scalzi.com

I replaced a bent lamp cap on my Tiffany-style clematis lamp shade. (Almost) Back to normal.

I see there is an Oprah special on menopause on tonight.

When I didn't see Dr. Jen Gunter as an expert guest, I thought I'd rather read what she had to say about it than to watch it.

I unlocked two new interactions with my library today.

The first was logging into my library account and renewing my library books from home.

The second was downloading Speechify. It turns text from physical books into audiobook form.

My husband had an astronomy class and I helped out with observing with two digital telescopes (my eVscope 1 and a Seestar) in the middle of Omaha.

Did you know that you can walk into your local library and they will just let you walk out with books for free?!

The (at least) one black squirrel that lives near our house. I have seen a half dozen brown squirrels at one time, but only one black one at a time.

There is a new feature on Netflix that if you hit the rewind button one time, it shows the closed captioning for 10 seconds and then turns off in case you didn't understand what was said.

Where has this been all my life?

For the second year in a row, Michael and I won the grand prize contest from a gem company in Omaha.

Today, we solved a multi-leg hunt using different ciphers and resources throughout the city.

Last year, we won a 2-carat sapphire and this year, we won our choice of six natural rubies.

I went to see author Robin Wall Kimmerer speak last night and got her new book.

I got a box of four Harry & David pears at Trader Joe's and had one for breakfast and it was perfectly ripe.

Delicious surprise!

Nice article by @rossandersen.bsky.social about how the US intelligence community negotiated a compromise with Rubin/LSST astronomers to prevent Rubin from incidentally broadcasting the locations of secret satellites to the world in real time.

This is a motorized lazy Susan filled with a rheoscopic solution. It’s only about 1cm deep and the pencil serves as the stationary obstacle.

I usually wait until the end of the calendar year to list my top books, but since someone asked, here’s what I have so far.

Fiction:

1. The Women by Kristin Hannah
2. The Island of Sea Women by Lisa See
