Dancer, singer, dog & cat lover, retired IT support goddess. Living happily ever after in northern WV with spouse & tabby cat.
I loved spending a week with my grandmother when I was growing up. I learned how to sew from her - we even made a quilt together.

PT can be so magical, especially if you do your "homework". I plan to return to strength training myself after I recover from my surgery that I had yesterday.

I had surgery yesterday morning & according to my spouse, the surgeon was quite pleased with her work. All of the medical staff that I interacted with before & after the surgery were so kind & friendly (I was asleep for the "during") - I felt truly cared for. I would rate the experience 10/10.

Enjoyed a salad every day using a variety of lettuces & spinach from our garden and the farmers' market. Today's salad also included leftover bok choy from last night's stir fry.

I helped my spouse with his video creation project for one of my favorite dance tunes. He did all the heavy lifting while I served as a sounding board & an emotional support human. www.youtube.com/watch?v=w33D...

I scheduled a COVID booster vaccination so I'd be able to call out sick the next day for my monthly 1-1 meeting with an incompetent manager. I frequently get mild side effects such as fever after vaccines PLUS I knew he wouldn't bother to reschedule the meeting. Hope you feel better soon!

I took a couple of walks in my neighborhood this week for the first time since Jan 11. The snow was pretty but it would have been hazardous for walking due to ice underneath.

I contacted at least one person in my circle of former colleagues/classmates each day for 7 days to gather input for a history of IT Support at my former university. I could just write down my own memories but it's fun to talk about the old days with others to fill in gaps & gain perspective.

I finally started working on a post-retirement project where I plan to document the history of computer support at my alma mater (& former employer). This week, I'm reaching out to former colleagues to hear about their experiences as students & employees.

New Year's Eve chez moi was just staying up late reading as usual. I served cabbage with black-eyed peas for New Year's Day for good luck in the coming year. I added small bits of cooked pork to my portion for extra luck. Our Irish dance class met on Jan 1 - great way to start the year!

We made an amazing batch of vegetarian chili for Christmas dinner. Today, I scored a McRib sandwich for lunch (I'm an omnivore married to a vegan).

Played my first online trivia game with a group of fellow retirees. Had a lot of points but blew them all with the final "jeopardy style" question by betting the lot on a wrong answer. But lots of fun & time with others.

I bought a mystery book that my spouse & I are both enjoying: A Daughter of Fair Verona by Christina Dodd. He is a lot pickier about books than I am so it's great to hear him laugh while he's reading.

On a visit to Monterey CA in 2005, I loved going to the wharf to watch the sea lions - I found it peaceful.

I planned to buy a single tune for a dance class but after previewing the band's other tracks, I decided to buy the whole digital album. Bandcamp Friday means entire purchase goes directly to the artist!. Delightful Irish trad! carlossweeneymccartin.bandcamp.com/album/the-on...

I had a great time at the annual Augusta Irish Music Retreat & my open-mic song & dance performance went well. The 1st one since 1995 without my friend Karen who went to these Irish camps with me (she passed away in March). We honored her by singing a couple of songs she wrote. I made new friends.
