With apologies to French and Spanish friends, I feel there has been too little celebration of Trafalgar day

Started my fellowship at the Library of Congress 🤩 I sure hope the fresco of Melpomene (the muse of tragedy) isn’t a harbinger.

I’m so gratified that some of the people I learn most from on this subject — Jim Mattis, Peter Feaver, @eliotacohen.bsky.social, @heidiurben.bsky.social, and Richard Kohn found my book worthwhile.

This Army birthday I’m thinking of Medal of Honor recipient Pvt Henry Johnson of the 369th NY National Guard (known as the Harlem Hellfighters). The 369th served more days in the WWI trenches than an other US unit, took more casualties also. DOD just stripped Johnson’s name off Ft. Polk.

You’ve been kidnapped. The characters from the last TV show you watched are trying to rescue you. Who’s coming to save you? (Jang Uk from Netflix’ Alchemy of Souls). I’ll be fine!

What a day to be watching the Montgomery Biscuits play the Chattanooga Lookouts. Great jerseys plus the little boys behind me triple dog daring a runner to steal. So much good in our country.
