For years ours was running on Windows-NT and out tech folks had a few back up drives they saved to switch out in case ours died.

Agreed, training does seem like a solution that would be prone to “carewashing”: easy to purchase and count but not necessarily charging anything. I like the organizational focus of this article though - instead of just suggesting employees engage in self-care.
