Here's a fun little trick we used for Circuit Breaker.

All of the assets were made in greyscale, and the final palette was applied using #Godot adjustments settings in an Environment Node.

This made tweaking the final palette, introducing new colours and shading certain elements SUPER quick.

Big thanks to everyone who played our entry. Was a lot of fun seeing everyones comments and feedback. Next year we'll try and not make a game that makes a small section of players motion sick 😅

The Create team had a blast with #GMTK GameJam this year!

I'm so proud of the effort the team put into it, definitely one of our best jam entries yet.

It's been a little while since I did an #mcartday post. Realised I hadn't showcased the card armour from #CreateMod update 6.

We needed some additional uses for the new cardboard we added, and the idea of making armour out of it tickled us. 😄

Fun fact: Create almost got a frogport "rare package" when we realised the frog and the package were the same size.

I couldn't get the texture to work with the muted cardboard palette, but I found this visual from my archives and thought it was pretty fun! 😅

I'm such a big fan of @gaziter.bsky.social's gorgeous character designs that I knew that I'd have to attempt some #Blender fan art sooner or later 😄

The apparitions from #CreateMod 's haunted bell are an animation I did a while back. Unlike a lot of my work these were entirely hand pixelled frame by frame.

Always love seeing these guys appearing inworld, the team did a great job with the implementation!

I'd like to try and find some time to repost some of the content from the *other* platform.

The blocks of Experience are one of my favourite animated textures for the #Createmod. Bit of a happy accident with a gradient and some pixel displacement in Blender.

At this point The individual models are usually already modelled in Block Bench, but I'll collect the models back together in Blender with it's own texture sheet:

By creating linked duplicates of the blocks, I can easily make changes and tweaks to one and have every instance reflect that change.

For April's #mcartday I thought I'd share a trick I use when doing a bunch of matching textures.

This jumble of blocks is a process that I usually call "clustering", and it's done as part of the texture polish stage.

I think I might've made the Happy Ghast's (Joyst?) smile a little bigger and more smug.

I know typically they have quite a small mouth anyway, but
the low mouth with the high and close-together goggles makes an odd shape for the face.

Looks like they've got a few more pixels to work with as well.

Once we had those rules and workflows established, extending it to the other UIs was real easy.

For UIs that were related to the new features, but were more technical than the stock keeper interface, we opted for a hybrid style between the new visual motifs and MC's usual UI boxes.

We found a lot of benefit in initially aligning elements to the 16px grid as a guideline. Breaking this rule when necessary to serve specific functions.

The big trick I leaned into was using PixelComposer to non-destructively assemble the sprite sheet into a finished preview.

This made tweaking the texture, alignments and trying new ideas super quick and easy.

looking into this further. I didn't even need to "save" the edits on the graphic side. Just used the apply button and it grabbed the edits automatically.

I did have to swap between the files in the viewer to have it update in the viewer though.

after a quick look, and using it to edit the files. It looks like both the screengrab image and the texture can be found editted in an image viewer window.

You can then use the image tab (press n to view) on the right to save or discard those changes.
