bowser offers luigi a lunchbox. he says "i thought we could... you know. have lunch. this lunch. that i made for you" luigi covers his face, silently blushing. bowser and luigi sit together. bowser says "i know you think it makes you weak, but, of all the people I've fought, you were the only one that lookes at me like i was a person." bowser taking off luigi's cap. the two lean in for an intimate moment, but are interrupted by mario walking in on them. mario asks "luigi, what's going on here?" luigi stutters, "I don't know what i was thinking... i thought i could convince the old koopa to change his ways and stop kidnapping princesses..." he walks away sadly from bowser and mario. "but nevermind, it was a bad idea"

bowser and luigi stand back to back. luigi is dressed as a mechanic, bowser as yakuza. bowser knocks on a roller door. "hey mario, open up. i got another job for you." the man who answers isn't mario, but luigi. "uh, mario isn't here right now, but maybe I can help?" bowser points at his car. "ah. you must be his brother. well, take a look. driving it started feeling off last wee-" he's interrupted by the sight of luigi excitedly admiring the car with trademark "yah" "wahoo" "wah" sounds. luigi bows to bowser. "please- it would be a dream to work on your car!" he clutches his beanie in his hands, looking up to bowser with puppy dog eyes. "i may not be as skilled as mario, but i promise I'd give it my all..." bowser's heart thumps, and he pulls at his collar. he bashfully responds. "...sure. but if you put so much as a scratch on her..." luigi replies "thank you! i promise i won't let you down!"

luigi walks alone in the rain. "I'm such an idiot... mario would never do something so stupid as falling for the enemy. i gotta be strong. and tough. just like..." luigi catches his reflection in a puddle. "mario... would be..." he's haunted by voices from the past. "just a reflection. " "living in mario's shadow." luigi frowns and is filled with determination. "no. that's not me." bowser sitting sadly at his throne. a knock at his castle doors. he wrenches them open to see luigi. "bowser--" bowser interrupts him. "luigi? you dare show your face here after what you said? forget it." he tries to slam the doors shut, but luigi holds them open. "bowser, wait, please! I'm sorry!" luigi speaks to bowser, impassioned: "I've spent my entire life trying to be like my brother--but if i keep doing that I'll only be remembered as green mario. and I'm more than that. I am my own person. i am... luigi." bowser scoffs. "oh yeah? and who is luigi?" luigi pulls bowser into an embrace. "he is in love." we jump forward. bowser, who has once again imprisoned princess peach, is accosted by mario and luigi. mario shouts "bowser! this is the last time you'll kidnap the princess!" luigi says "don't worry peach, we're here to save you!" bowser booms back "aha! if it isn't my old nemesis! luigi? and uh, the red guy." luigi blushes, rubbing the back of his head. mario is baffled.
