Why should a child’s access to life-saving medicine depend solely on parental decisions? If a child wants to be vaccinated to protect themselves from a life-threatening disease, they should be allowed to do so.
Preventing access to proven prevention is not protection — it’s risk. #VaccinesSaveLives

🚨 >50% of ID fellowships went unfilled—just as the need is surging.

Currently on ID consults and seeing unprecedented volumes and an increasingly immunocompromised population at risk for life-threatening infections.

I’m worried we’re heading toward fewer specialists when we need them most.

Happy Thanksgiving.

I’m grateful for all first responders, public health officials, and healthcare workers who show up every day—and for those working today to keep us safe.

With everything happening in the world, your dedication and resilience matter more than ever. Thank you for all you do. 🧡🦃

My dog has the best life

Sunday morning I am working and he is passed out and likely dreaming of food

@verizonofficial.bsky.social - this doesn’t resolve the issue with my hacked account.

Every time I speak to someone, I get passed to another person and told to repeat steps I’ve done—without unlocking my account or investigation into how it was compromised.

This has been going on for weeks

It’s been a rough week, but this little man is the bright spot.

Proof that he’ll do literally anything for food. 😂🐾

Five years ago my sweet baby boy Bailey was born, and life has never been the same.

Happy 5th Birthday to my little man! Thank you for all the joy, cuddles, and unconditional love you bring me every single day.

I hope your day is filled with treats, snuggles, and all your favorite things.

It’s now clear that information on U.S. government websites can no longer be trusted.

It’s both heartbreaking and infuriating to see how quickly this administration has undermined science, public health, and the credibility of our scientific institutions.

As an ID physician who helped lead COVID-19 vaccine rollout at my academic institution and continues to care for patients, I can say unequivocally that I did not receive a dollar for administering COVID-19 vaccines.

I also do not know any physicians who were paid to vaccinate people for COVID-19.

👏 Congrats to Ghana, Kenya & Tanzania! Their progress shows what’s possible when communities trust public health.

Meanwhile, the U.S. risks losing its measles elimination status as anti-science misinformation erodes trust. We should learn from these successes: evidence works when trust is strong.

As someone who has ordered (and undergone) a lot of MRIs, let me be clear:

1️⃣ MRIs are not routine. We order them when worried about something serious—(ie stroke) not “just to check.”

2️⃣ You always know what’s being scanned. The part of your body imaged is literally what goes into the machine.

The detection of #H5N5 in Washington is a reminder: while less common than #H5N1, any avian influenza spillover matters.

We must ramp up wildlife & poultry surveillance, support shared response frameworks, and monitor viral evolution closely. Global health keeps dosing

Avian influenza isn't going away despite how much we want to bury our head in the sand.

Better to do something about it now rather than wait until it gets much worse...

🚨 Ethiopia has announced an outbreak of viral hemorrhagic fever with 8 suspected cases in Jinka.
Health authorities are scaling up surveillance, testing, and contact tracing.

This is a clear reminder: early detection and strong surveillance save lives.

Welcome to snowy Toronto for Trop Med 2025 - the irony is not lost on me!

Anyone else think it’s ironic that Trop Med is in snowy Toronto?

The government shutdown has paralyzed air travel

✈️ ATL: 337-minute delays
✈️ DFW: 49-minute delays
✈️ BNA: 63-minute delays
🛑 BOS: partial airport closure

Air traffic stretched thin. TSA unpaid. Travelers stranded.

This isn’t politics — it’s dysfunction.

First they came for reproductive rights.
Then they came for vaccines.
Now they’re coming for mental health.

There is zero evidence SSRIs cause mass violence.

You know what does? Guns — and the fact that anyone can access weapons that kill hundreds in seconds.

🚨 This is unscientific & dangerous.

The MMR vaccine is safe, effective & used worldwide. Splitting it into 3 shots isn’t evidence-based—it’s politics that will sow confusion, lower coverage & fuel outbreaks.

Don’t be surprised when countries start requiring proof of MMR from U.S. travelers. 💉
