Today a group of friends put on a “cronening” ceremony on the beach to mark one of my oldest and dearest’s welcome transition into menopause.

I have some pretty great friends.

Caught the pre-Broadway opening of “Death Becomes Her” this evening—it’s a lot of fun. Changes from the film are smart, and Megan Hilty, Jennifer Simard and Chris Sieber are killing it. I’m afraid Michelle Williams is a bit out of her depth in the Isabella role, but still, it’s a good time.

Really enjoyed Illinoise at Chicago Shakes. Choreographer Justin Peck and playwright Jackie Sibblies Drury turn Sufjan Stevens’ concept album into a moving contemporary dance-theater piece, with a Canterbury Tales–style framing device (maybe about the healing power of storytelling?). Cool & lovely.
