Great turnout for our @standupforscience.bsky.social event in Rochester. I am glad folks turned out to show their support for science. Lots of supportive honks from passing cars. Science really does save lives and improve our lives. Support for education is critical for growing our next generation.

In my work/life/doomscrolling balance, doomscrolling is dominating. But, trying to quilt some each day. Just finished this block in the Zoo Family Portrait quilt.

Saw this today. And, any obituary I want to read will be on the front page.

Zoo Family Portrait pattern, block 2. The backside of flamingo and tortoise. Pattern by Cassandra Beaver. I can’t believe I took this on. It’s a crazy amount of work and what the heck am I going to do with the ginormous quilt anyway. It’s huge.

I’m not particularly woo, and vision boards always seemed a little woo, but a group was doing them so I gave it a shot. Here’s one of my digital “pages”.

Was working some FPP tonight. Part of a flamingo 🦩 I messed up three times on this small piece having to frankenpiece an extra bit on each time to cover up the paper. The trimmed piece is fine, but I’m hoping for better outcomes tomorrow.

Finished sewing the binding down on this colorful quilt. Looking to buy new living room furniture and this will be the bright flash of color in the room. Simple pattern from a quilt retreat shows off the Kaffe Fassett fabrics well.

Working on my EPP project. Triangle 1 of 8 complete. There was some cursing involved with the curve and I jabbed a needle into my finger. 🤕

I don’t have a dog, but recently met some at a cafe on Svalbard. The white one kinda had the sads too, his brother wasn’t there that day.

OK, everything is horrible, but let's have a thread of not-horrible.

Show me a piece of art which brings you joy.

This quilt I saw in a quilt show in Rochester, NY. In honor of a cat, but adorned with some awesome buttons. I just loved it and it inspired me.

Here are some mural pictures from Rochester, NY. The first is Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony both of whom lived in Rochester at some point, both buried at Mt. Hope Cemetery. The other two I had taken at the library and school named for Douglass and his wife, Anna.

The quilt workshop I did in Svalbard has ended. I got a cold and was a little less productive than I would have liked, but started. My two goal projects. Inspired by the Northern Lights. How long will it actually take to complete?

I’m leaving Svalbard today to go back to Oslo. Here are some shots from my first day. The town of Longyearbyen. There were two reindeer that hung out right next to the hotel. The first night, they slept outside my window. On the tour of town we stopped to see the outside of the Global Seed Vault.

The photo of the miner statue is from 3pm Svalbard time. I’m adding an extra dog picture from the cafe, Yuki was a little bummed out his brother wasn’t with him today. The landscape is at about 11am. Svalbard enters full polar night in about 2 weeks. Now, it’s blue from the sun below the horizon.

Me posting here is a void because no one follows me, but I got to go to a Husky Cafe in Longyearbyen on Spitsbergen in the archipelago of Svalbard above the Arctic Circle. So very Northern pups. Calling @darthbluesky.bsky.social
