A moderately successful novel from a favorite comedian. Plot is a bit muddled, but characters are well (and sympathetically) drawn and the sharp and surprisingly insightful observations about suburban life make this an enjoyable read. #booksky

Loved this one- a kind of Dark Academia/Fantasy/Body Horror mash-up that really works. Intriguing characters (particularly memorable main character), great setting, perfect pacing, helluva plot. A corker. Highly recommend. #booksky

Annabel Monaghan has done it again. Yes, employs the "fake dating" trope but feels so fresh. Romance worth rooting for, characters complex and nuanced, the setting wonderful. Read it for the sharp observations on the difference between "old money" rich and the rest of us. Highly recommend.

The plot was a bit hard to follow due to constant switching between timelines and point of view. The mystery wrapped up in a way that felt a bit too convenient, but otherwise not a bad story. Just not a great one. #booksky

Latest in series set in Lake District. Essentially about finding community, friends, and romance later in life through crafts and cake (and music). Romance was a little contrived, but a nice story. Characters more complex than they intially appear. Recommend if you like this kind of thing.

A charming and engaging romance with a unique take on the “fake relationship” and “enemies to lovers” tropes. Does not take itself too seriously, kind of meta at times, I was rooting for this romance from the start. Well written and a lot of fun. High Recommend. #Booksky

Latest Jenny Colgan, set in the same world as Summer Skies and Close Knit. I liked it a lot, but I always like her books. The unlikely romance worked, and the community at the heart of the story will make you feel like things are not so terrible after all. High Recommend. #booksky

An enjoyable read- plot seems a bit contrived to me, but the character work is solid. I enjoyed the central theme that not everybody’s role in the Intelligence services or the Resistance was big and splashy- little things can make a real difference. Mild recommend.

Really enjoyable look behind the scenes at a tabloid. Relatable main character, great plot, satisfying redemption/revenge arc, pacing on point-and bonus-celebrity gossip! No notes, high recommend.

Third in a series- and every bit as good as the prior two. Set in Britain during WWII, setting is beautifully evoked. Engaging characters, well-executed plot, pacing is perfect. Loved it-No notes- Highly recommend.

Latest in an ongoing series I absolutely love. This installment does not disappoint. Great character work, the plot is well constructed, and the sense of time and place is wonderful. Highly recommend.

Had a chance to read Dana Stabenow’s forthcoming book. It is a corker. Great characters and plotting is first rate. The historical context really makes this one shine. Highly recommend. It is SO good, Read It.

Nothing ground-breaking, but utterly charming. Great characters and a nice love story. Part Austen homage, crossed with modern rom-com, combined with a time travel element. Highly recommend-if you like this kind of thing.

Nice mix of procedural and homage to Golden Age Detective stories. Interesting characters and setting, decent plot, pacing good. The novel ends quite abruptly, at a moment of crisis, with unresolved plot points-it felt unfinished. Recommend, look forward to reading more from this author.

Latest in long running Lynley/Havers series. Bit disappointing, if I am honest-the characters are beautifully written, but the story does not work. Central point seemed to be that grown men should leave young girls alone. Fairly harrowing reveal toward the end, trigger warning appropriate.

Due to be published next Spring. Maria Semple’s latest did not disappoint. Great story, memorable characters, snappy dialogue, witty prose, and some genuine insights. Cannot say enough nice things about this one. Go pre-order it. Highly Recommend.

Rollicking adventure by Jen Lancaster. I had some notes, but it was a pretty fun read. Recommend. #booksky

Next in a series by Kate Hewitt. Definitely “mid”. Not unpleasant, but did not love. If you liked the prior entries, you will like this one. Mild recommend #booksky

Loved this one. An alternate history of the British royal family. If you have been missing The Crown, this dishy read will fill that hole in your life. Highly recommend. #booksky

Exceptionally good read about class/society, finding one’s purpose, and love. There are vapid aristos to love/hate, famous suffragists, a pair of lovers you can root for, and a wise and witty narrator. An immersive and enjoyable experience. Highly recommend.

Second in a series. So glad I discovered this very well written mystery series. Great character work and a well-crafted plot; the observations of writers and the writing life really make this an exceptionally good read. No notes, Highly recommend.
