People do tell on themselves, but sometimes in such convoluted ways that it takes hindsight to see it. So, yeah. It does feel as though he was laughing at us. We need to salt the earth.

Someone who accuses a powerful and popular man of rape has NO reason to lie and every reason - except for a desperate grasp for justice - to stay silent. Automatically implying that such a person is a lier is certainly a choice. I assume the accuser innocent because I know the odds.

In general, people are nothing if not disappointing, even in their depressing predictability. There is no excuse for what he did and no excuse for supporting him. Appreciating art may be apolitical (🤔) but buying art is definitely not, and neither is defending a rapist. Bring back shame.

Such rules are definitely constipated, I agree, but they are also, quite simply, based on misconception and a poor grasp of logic. Even a stickler for constipated rules cannot argue that starting a sentence with a conjunction is wrong when they'll gladly accept "Yet, I learned my lesson well."

Through no fault of my own, I ended up teaching grammar at university level for several years, so I had to acquaint myself with the rules. There is nothing grammatically incorrect about starting a sentence with a conjunction. A quick search on Grammarly or Merriam-Webster will tell you the same.

I grieve that so many ordinary people and world leaders have let you down. Yet we are many who still catch a daily glimpse of the hell you are put through, and our hearts are full of fear and hope for you. I'll donate a little when I can. Peace and prosperity be with you, friend.
