My copies of the book arrived yesterday, one for me and two as welcome gifts for friends who are traveling far to visit me in my new home this spring. I can't wait to share!

This is in service of their BS about non-citizens voting. Given that only citizens can vote, ICU should especially have no jurisdiction at polling places. States and cities need to protect their voters from illegal interference.

I have said for years that we're the only species ever to knowingly and apparently deliberately cause our own extinction.

The cognitive dissonance I have between being an agnostic who doesn't believe in Hell and being 100% sure everyone involved with ICE and DHS right now is going there is wild.

Do you think understanding something about the human condition beyond the tip of your own nose - that different people experience the world in different ways, and react differently, too - might be useful to you? Well, then, you need to study the humanities.

One suspects at least some hiring managers pay attention to which universities are devaluing their own degrees, and don't hire from there, making the degrees literally worth less (in a way the job-training-not-education crowd can understand). Maybe not enough, though.

To be fair, those first invaders did take over the country, ruin the culture, and generally mess the place up. 😑

I want the next president to say, on the traditional planning walk through* and within earshot of Trump, "I want all this ticky-tacky gold sh!t off the walls before I get back from the inauguration."

*If Trump hosts a walk through, unlike last time

I keep hoping (no doubt in vain) that reporters will start following up with "as Speaker of the House, shouldn't you be better informed?" Or "Given your role in leadership, it's your job to know what [president or other major party figure] is doing. Why are you so consistently uninformed?" Etc.

I mean, if you're interviewing White people in Alabama, the odds are pretty high (I say as an Auburn alumna).

As an alumna of Auburn, I'm disgusted and horrified by the firings, and think these students are probably not smart enough to be allowed to attend the university. What an embarrassment.

If the people who book guests have any integrity (ha - IKR), they'll refuse to book people they know will lie.

Oh! This just appeared in my feed; I didn't know about you before now. I have a "quilt" pieced by my great-great (or is it three "greats"?) grandmother that was never quilted. For years, I've wondered how to find someone to finish something so old.

Yes, a fantastic book. I was reading it last year, right during the Trump rally at MSG when Miller said something almost word for word what the Klan said at a rally a century earlier, quoted in the book. Really emphasized what we all already knew about him.

Yes! It makes sense logically and grammatically. 100% should be standard English.

I'm moving to the UK in two weeks and am increasingly embarrassed, day by day, to show my American face out in the world. My god.

My book group read that in about 2018 or 2019, and one member said she kept flipping back to the copyright page to make sure it really hadn't just been written. Way too on the nose.
