Received “Primary Reading Simplified” today by @suchmo83.bsky.social! At first glance- it’s a practical, teacher-friendly resource! I appreciate the PD questions at the end of each chapter—perfect for PLCs and team collaboration. Excited to dive deeper! #edusky

If you see this, quote with a flower.

My final classroom as a teacher, we created a special flower garden to honor the memory of a classmate who tragically passed. Each student planted a flower, creating a beautiful space to remember and celebrate his life. Then, we filled the sky with rainbows.

My pin apparently lost its back today…looked down to see the pin at my feet. It’s still my favorite! #bannedbooks, #read

Airplane mode…Executive Function skills HARD at work!

I was looking at a Bridges Math lesson I had taught in 1st grade, so many mental shifts were required, especially in workplaces! Student stamina is influenced by their cognitive load in activities. Executive Function mindset! #edusky, #teacher

Was browsing Amazon and found a preorder for Julia Lindsey’s next book (which I didn’t even know was coming out so what a surprise!). Reading Above the Fray is an excellent resource for teachers- I anticipate this will be as well! It’ll be safe in my cart for 6 months :)

I’ve had the privilege to serve under great leaders and learned from great leader mentors. I’ve had to work “with” terrible leaders with an immeasurable lack of integrity and accountability.

When I mentor future leaders- Day 1- I introduce these two truths and encourage them to model it everyday.

The Southport CoLAB has an amazing book coming out next month all about Executive Function skills. These skills are usually seen as study skills or behavior targets…not the metacognitive processes they are.

I had this book several years ago and had gifted it to a new teacher I was mentoring. It showed up as a purchasing suggestion in my Amazon- it was like seeing an old friend again! Direct instruction in reading…2006 publication still relevant.

I’m about to commit teacher blasphemy: Amazon Basics felt-tip pens are significantly better than Flair pens. There, I said it. Let the great pen debate begin.

I may be late to the game- but I just watched Out of My Mind—an excellent story about inclusion, advocacy, and the importance of using people-first language. While Disney added its dramatic flair, the heart of the message shines through. #inclusion, #cerebralpalsy
