There are many, but I feel like I’ve had a special connection with Piglet since a child. 🥲

It’s #KidLitArtPostcard day! 🙌

Today I thought it would be fun to share my latest picturebook, “Miss Betti, What is This?” about a changemaker who transformed the Detroit Public School lunch program. It’s near and dear to my heart and available for preorder!

12/ The image of McMorrow on her third standing ovation, humbly before her constituents, is burned into my mind. She wasn’t claiming to have all the answers—only showing that if we start small, dig deep, and keep going together, we can build a better path forward.

1/ It was a bright, sunny 40º day— what we call balmy in the Midwest—as I stood in line with 9,000 others outside a high school in Warren, Michigan, for Bernie Sanders’ “Fight the Oligarchy” rally.

Here’s what I saw. (🧵)

1/ Yesterday, I joined 100+ others at a Town Hall for MI Congresswoman Haley Stevens, Attorney General Dana Nessel, State Senator Jeremy Moss, and Commissioner Brendan Johnson.

No grand speeches. Just a brief intro and then—straight into questions. (🧵)

Illustrating covers for the young reader history series—Race to the Truth—that tells the true history of America from the perspective of different communities and underrepresented heroes has been an absolute joy. Highly recommend them for adults and children alike! 🙂
