I think it's also important to acknowledge that the impact of a leader isn't just about who they are as an individual - necessarily flawed and imperfect, as we all are - but about how they prompt changed behavior from their followers. as a queer Catholic, that's the legacy of Pope Francis to me

There are no heroes. No one is coming to save us. And there is much work to be done. Let’s gather inspiration from Sen. Booker to do it together.

Certainty has always been an illusion. May we use this chaotic era to loosen our grip and learn to be in flow with the unknowable.

We can remind one another (and ourselves) of what we do know, and that not knowing is not necessarily a problem, especially if it means we keep learning.

We can share our lack of certainty in solidarity: “I don’t know the answer, but as I know more I’ll keep you informed.”

We can offer one another (and ourselves) the certainty of our trust, respect and steadfast support.

How do you see the difference between disruption and destruction playing out around you?

And how are you channeling your change leadership to create the most value with the least collateral damage?

Friends, we need thoughtful disruptors now more than ever—in our organizations, communities and society at large. People who can see beyond "how we do things here" without having to burn it all down to make change.

The leaders I most admire disrupt with intention:
—They understand and respect the systems they aim to change
—They build coalitions instead of creating adversaries
—They focus on evolution over revolution (most of the time)
—They know when to challenge and when to support

What I'm saying is: That wasn't leadership, it was just noise.
