Honestly had the exact same experience. Watched it when it aired, read fic, obsessed. Rewatched in 2023 and was SHOCKED at how gay it was. About to do a second rewatch!

What program did you use to set up this organizer?

Look… some things just go together. When Hannibal was cancelled in 2015** I had people reach out to me to check if I was okay (I wasn’t).

Ah still v brave though! And yeah my ao3 username will be sealed in a letter to be read after my death bequeathing a curated collection of bookmarks and post-canon fic.

I’m new to bluesky but am now blessed with this knowledge. Also as a much more secretive fanfic author…I’m applauding. Nerves of steel.

I already knew you had excellent taste from your IWTV-posting but BG3 too?!

Mass Effect was foundational for me too. When ME2 was released I came home for a long weekend and did nothing but play. Didn't sleep, barely ate. Amazing time.

Have you played Beyond Two Souls?

If you’ve not played Disco Elysium before you’re in for a ride! What are some of your favorite branching games?

Andddd I said 3 games before I remembered one of my favorite examples—The Stanley Parable. Choices in one round of the game affecting choices & outcomes in the next (The Broom Closet made me laugh out loud). Such an incredible meta game.

Telltale’s The Walking Dead does a great job of making more limited player choice (compared to more sprawling RPGs) still feel impactful by having your choices influence relationships & more than plot.

One (of many) reasons BG3 stands out is for rewarding players who go down the road less-traveled. A combo of unusual actions, choices, and dialogue can trigger unique reactions from in-world characters. Makes the game feel more lifelike & those moments are truly special.

3 games—Disco shines for rewarding players who make what seem like “bad choices” or “bad rolls” with funny, sad, and surprising outcomes. (In what other game can you punch a kid and actually earn his respect?) You think a choice is going to go one way and, often, Disco subverts your expectations.
