I don’t think the rise of MAGA is the product of malicious disinformation as it is a failure of the underlying metameme to compete with modernity and “woke” postmodernity and so a strange new overstory formed among conservative Americans that appears to moderns to be bewilderingly nonsensical.

I, like so many of you, have been losing sleep lately. Waking up with dread. Feeling the weight of the world. And I can't help but feel resentful towards Americans who, as baffling as it to us, are somehow comforted by this incoming administration. So I have some thoughts as the holidays approach.

This situation we all find ourselves in is demanding us to be more than we have ever been. To meet our potential and step into our power. It is too much right now, but we will grow into it despite the growing pains. We will become the people who can wield this world and steer it towards justice.

You must understand your adversary to defeat them, however, understanding is essentially synonymous with forgiveness. This is because peoples beliefs and behaviors are a product of the systems within which they develop. Development is a privilege.
So, can we defeat our enemies by forgiving them?

Election postmortems are really flying blind without understanding the major metamemes in American politics. Post-Faustian (traditional), Modern, and Post-Modern describe the underlying logic of our symbolic code. They are much more meaningful predictors of sentiment and behavior than demographics.

A foundational aspect of political metamodernism is that it builds upon a foundation of green social liberalism. That is why I support the American Democratic Party as it is obviously the only viable movement to bring about those conditions here.

Does anyone see a path forward where we can come to an understanding with the viciously anti-everything radical leftists that I see on this app? This group stumps me as bad as die hard MAGA. They’re both ruled by moral outrage and an in-group identity/ideology. The extremes of the modern poli/spec.

It’s crazy how music my brother wrote from four years ago can speak so directly to what we’re going through right now. We certainly have a lot to unravel. Knowing the truth about this path our country is taking is so hard to carry. We have a lot of weaving to do.
If you haven’t read the Listening Society and the Nordic Ideology by Hanzi, I urge you to familiarize yourself with them because they are uniquely useful at this time and a far better use of your time than watching dozens of election postmortems. And yes they are available on audible.

I’m so bad about procrastinating that after thirteen years it’s taken the threat of fascism for me to finally update the gender marker on my social security card and get a passport.

My brothers lyrics take on new meanings every time I hear them. We all got punked and though we’re busy wondering how, we have some suggestions for how we can find common ground around political metamodernism, and get our (small d) democratic (small L) liberal political order back.
Turns out they did do all of that only to see us submit to the will of another petty tyrant. We have a lot of work do to.
