What’s annoying is Starc on his day is a world beater. And this wasn’t his day. He was just fine. And fine was apparently enough.

Just delighted to have had two hours sleep so I could wake up for England to get found out by Australia’s only bowler. #Ashes

Thoughts on rewatching ‘Grosse Pointe Blank’ (1997):

Forgot how funny it was.
Didn’t know Joe Strummer composed the score.
We have never replaced John Cusack.
I miss ‘small’ movies.

After nine months of rewrites, developing a half-hour comedy into a one-hour drama, my production company just signed off on my pilot and series doc.

(In Fabrizio Romano) Here we go!

After one month in Amsterdam, I finally got a rental bike… No brakes.

I asked where the brakes were? The guy said it’s a classic Dutch bike, “No brakes. Just pedal backwards.”

I foresee zero problems ahead.

Oh, the colour? Luminous orange.

I wonder if a year from now, United and Arsenal look at Gyökeres and Sesko and think each have the player the other should have bought.

Watching the Overton brothers play cricket for England is like watching the Neville brothers play football for England if both of them were Phil. #ENGvIND

Watched John Cassavetes’ ‘A Woman Under the Influence’ (1974) at the BFI today for the first time in years.

It’s such a different experience in a theatre. Cinema is made to be witnessed IN the cinema.

A ‘small’ story does not mean a small experience. #filmsky

Can’t help but feel that my renewed interest in the transfer window is the most telltale sign of an existential crisis to date. Yes, the world is crumbling… but maybe Bryan Mbeumo as a right-sided number 10 could solve everything?

Every so often you get the chance to drink an absolute worldie. This 2020 Penfolds ‘Grange’ was shared apropos of nothing and is comfortably the finest Australian #wine I have ever tasted.

‘The Oner’ episode of #TheStudio manages to skirt ‘cringe’ comedy so masterfully. Never not funny, never not riveting, and yet somehow is still charming throughout. Had high hopes for this show, and it’s already surpassed those lofty expectations.

Don’t really have the palate for prestige Bordeaux when young. I lack the sophistication necessary for appreciation. That said, I couldn’t turn down the chance to try the 2019 Chateau Lynch-Bages. Despite its youth, its fruit was already darkly rich and tannins hardly grippy at all.

Can’t count the amount of times I’ve watched Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl performance and yet somehow still don’t know the result or even if a game was actually played.

It’s been a good few days on the writing front, so this 2018 Mayacamas Napa Cab was a bit of a treat. Had that trademark Mount Veeder freshness, but still a little tight, and will be right in the pocket in 5 years time.
