Eternity has such a clever premise. The script’s lighthearted tone doesn’t always match the weight of its themes, but it all comes together neatly. Miles Teller and Elizabeth Olsen alone make it worth watching. My review is over on @framerated.co.uk and here:
Eternity (2025) — clever afterlife premise wrapped in a gentle romantic comedy
In the afterlife, a woman’s faced with the choice between the man she spent her life with and her first love, who died young…

Christy is a rough attempt at a sports biopic with a few flashes of promise. Sydney Sweeney is hit-and-miss (pun!) Check out my review on @framerated.co.uk and here:

Tron was once a spectacle that pushed to the edge of imagination. And now it’s this. With Jared Leto. Here’s my review:
Tron: Ares (2025) — a once daring franchise reduced to a hollow light show
A visually slick but emotionally vacant revival that misunderstands its own legacy.

Roofman was a puzzling watch. All the ingredients are there for a warm-hearted crime film with a big-hearted antihero, but the picture it tries to paint is murky. My review is over on @framerated.co.uk and here:
Roofman — true-crime tale about freedom, loneliness, and the walls we build ourselves
A charismatic criminal, while on the run from the police, hides in a hidden space of a toy store.

Yes, it’s one of the best of the year. But is it THE best of the year? The decade? All-time??? Leonardo DiCaprio’s best performance? My thoughts on Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another are here:

Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest has the bark, but does it have the bite to match his legendary filmography?

The Senior aims for heartfelt family film but the script should’ve worked harder in the off-season. My review is here:
The Senior (2025) — faith, football, and facepalms
An underdog comeback tale undone by clunky dialogue and tired tropes.

HIM is an ambitious sports/horror movie but does it achieve anything beyond being completely bizarre? My review is here:
Him (2025) — a bizarre dive into the horrors of ambition and American football
Like a dazed quarterback with no play call, Him is confused, concussed, and spiking the ball for no reason.
