From an outsider- much of the influence and associated power the US has enjoyed since WW2 is based on the fact that the US shows up. Peacekeeping, disaster relief, vaccination programs, military,civil and humanitarian aid. That's what made the US great. Not a bloviating jackass of a buffoon.

I read this a long time ago in 7th grade for class. Might pick it up again to see if I understand it differently now.
