I talk about an eclectic range of topics including classic and modern video games, trans issues, and pharmacology. And whatever catches my fancy.

For reference, here's my top 5 Steam most played >>'

If we included Playstation and Battle.net, WoW would be on top and several of the Souls games would be up there.

I... I thought this was a fake until I checked 😭

I can't cook much, but I can make a pretty good chili.
Which I then make in massive batches, lol

You have to be fucking kidding me. So if a transgender veteran did not start HRT while in military service (through the military/VA no less), they just are cut off with no warning?

This is ignoring an era of forcing queer servicemembers to serve while in the closet.

c. Are farmers already not making abundant and affordable food? We can debate Healthy (nutrionists have for decades).
d. Good luck improving insurance coverage. In general though, that's the limiting factor for most people seeking health care in the US.

I should also note the Make America Healthy Again commission isn't going to get much done. This feels like a gesture to make it seem like things are being done.
a. Conflicts of interest are already openly disclosed for published research.
b. All research aims to be the best possible. Uh...

The Nightmare will hold you there for what your character experiences as an eternity. Well past what it feels like your body dying. And still you live on. You break, and still you live on.

Until you achieve The Moment of Clarity.
October 25, 2024 at 9:37 PM
You can resist letting her out, of course. Explore it, and the Nightmare will tell you it's inevitable: you'll end up right back where you are now, only she will have figured out better ways to mess with you.

But you can still choose the coward's path. Refuse to leave. Let her torment you.
October 25, 2024 at 9:34 PM
The Nightmare is playful, and dangerous. She knows what she wants, and how to get it. She knows she has all the power over you.

You still are powerless against her, but now a voice in your head can keep your body functioning. A small gain, perhaps.
October 25, 2024 at 9:31 PM
Powerless against the Princess. You give in so easily. Your body cannot function in her presence.

It's a shock. I love this path.
October 25, 2024 at 9:04 PM
Turning your back on her... it's always a hard decision. She never takes it well either.

You should have let her out.
October 25, 2024 at 8:59 PM
Okay, replaying Slay the Princess now that the Pristine Cut is out. Might be going down some favorite paths first... We'll see.

First thing: some of these just hit differently after a break. 😢
The Princess saying this (that giving you either the truth or the answer you want to hear) is kinda rough.

I've not been reading much the last year casually... it's been an issue. Got a backlog of reading. Currently (and very slowly) working through Vallista. I got the next book in the series sitting on my table waiting for me too.

There's so many ways to ruin this, to keep that trust broken.

It is only by attempting to work towards trust that both are able to get free and escape.

It is neither leave or both leave. That's a powerful message; that it is still possible, even after everything, for things to heal.

The Thorn

You get here by a cycle of betrayal. The Princess and the Character break each other's trust to end up in this situation. How can they ever trust each other again after that?

And the odds are against them both now: the Thorn has the knife, and is trapped within thorns that bind her.

The Razor

Pure unadulterated pleasure in a single moment made manifest.

The Razor enjoys killing you. She loves it. And it is the desire to see what the Character will do next that drives her to keep killing. A single-minded drive to gain pleasure from killing.
October 18, 2024 at 12:50 AM
There are no choices left on the final cycle. There is no will left. The only thing left to do is to accept what you were asked to do all along:

Let. Her. Out.

And it's exactly what you do. There's nothing left but to accept your role.

The Moment of Clarity

This comes about if you result to help the Nightmare and instead stay with her. She torments the Character until their mind breaks, and they reach The Moment of Clarity.

How long does this take? An eternity? Does it even matter? All the voices are there, in the end.
October 18, 2024 at 12:40 AM
Alternatively, they can accept themselves as separate entities again. Remember the pain and the violence. And it hurts. But even then, they can still accept each other for who they are, just as individuals rather than a single being.
There's something very profound in whichever path is chosen.
October 18, 2024 at 12:33 AM
The Wild:

This one means a lot to me. A fusion of Princess and Character together. After all of the violence and pain, there's peace. And it's possible for them to find it together. Accepting themselves as this greater thing leads to freedom they cannot find alone.
October 18, 2024 at 12:30 AM
The Witch:

There is something about this Princess. No matter what you do or say, she will never trust you due to your prior actions. The trust is broken. Almost anything you do will result in either your death or both of your deaths.

Getting out of the hut alive is near impossible.

Show me a game released when you were 12.

This was the first "real" Final Fantasy I played, and it was the reason I wanted/got a PS1.

Had played FFMQ and SMRPG before, but this is where I got obsessed with turn-based RPGs.

Lol nope. Only adults were included. The person infantalized transmasc adults.

This is a person parading as having a Medical Degree, celebrating their transphobia, and showing a strange way of interpreting girls vs women. I doubt this was a mistake.
