Fortunately all sidewalks are always shoveled to their full width, making it possible for strollers, pedestrians, and those with mobility aids to…yeah.

NPR's coverage has done this. They don't necessarily do it all the time, but they do it regularly.

Reading and understanding other people’s code is one of the most challenging things about engineering, in many ways way more difficult than solving it yourself. It’s well worth it to review junior devs’ work, because you can train them. I question whether the tradeoff here is valuable.

There are annoying people everywhere, amongst all fan bases. I find this fanbase to be enthusiastic, and it makes me happy. I’ll be frank, I don’t see the point of sharing this kind of vague negativity.

I’ve had this same thought. Don’t let the haters get you down.

I started watching it in 2001, shortly before 9/11 and our subsequent response - Patriot Act, Homeland Security, etc. It felt pretty prescient then, too. The specifics change, but we’ve been on this path for awhile.

No I don’t, and fair enough. I do think the mere *existence* of those features invites speculation, though, and at the end of the day adding self-driving while admonishing the driver to be attentive feels like talking out of both sides of your mouth.

Surely adding self-driving features to cars encourages inattention, even if we all pretend that the driver is supposed to be paying attention.

Are we all supposed to pretend that we don’t understand how filibusters work?

I know that it was technically a legitimate primary. But if real options aren’t running, one choice is no choice.
September 21, 2025 at 12:18 AM
I mean, having a real primary in the first place would have been much better.

A pity he didn't participate in a primary debate - we may have had evidence of the extent of his condition much earlier.
