28. The Butcher’s Masquerade

I’m back in, baby! After still liking but not loving books 3 & 4, I put off reading this one for a while, especially when seeing how long it was.

This is back to all the things I liked most and doesn’t get too into the weeds of mechanics. I loved it.

“Did you do anything fun on your PTO?”

yes actually

27. Tender is the Flesh

I love a fucked up read and I love a weird allegory but this might be the first time that a fucked up ending made me wonder if I regret reading it. I’m sure as I sit with it, I won’t. At the very least, this’ll stick with me for a long time. 📚💙

It’s finally cold enough for me to debut what was in the Snooki Shop package.

26. Cibola Burn

I still liked this but I think this is my least favorite of the series so far. Could have done without the entire “she just needed to get laid” plot???? And the ending itself was a little anticlimactic.

Still kept me hooked, though! 💙📚

Finally got to see Hadestown while I was in London and it was amazing. Accidentally treated myself to front row, too.

I’ve decided to give my British colleagues the full food dye experience. Surely they yearn for the Red 40.

25. This American Woman

I read this because I’d seen some of her TikTok clips and found her funny, and her story intrigued me. I think it’d probably be better as an audiobook because it seems like some of her tone is lost and at the end it just rubbed me the wrong way. DNF the last 2 chapters. 📚💙

24. One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This

This is fantastic and I think everyone should read it. It has me reevaluating some of my own (in)actions. It’s well-written but not overly wordy, it’s impactful, and it says a lot of what needs to be said. Highly recommend it.

23. Be With

Listen, I’m not gonna lie - most of this went over my head. I enjoyed the ones that didn’t, though!

22. Mister Magic

I liked a lot of elements of this but wish it was a little spookier. I was never Mormon, but had a lot of friends who were, and I think a lot of them could’ve stood to read this when they were young. The author’s acknowledgment at the end is very touching. 📚💙

21. Lord of the Butterflies

I’ve been dabbling in poetry again, and I very much enjoyed a lot of these. I read it in eBook format which was a little wonky in some parts, but I liked it enough that I’m going to buy a physical copy. I’ve been pretty down lately and this was just what I needed. 💙📚
