Pregaming the Black Forest Star Party at Cherry Springs State Park, PA, and making huge progress on my target list. I need a bigger list... 😂. #starparty #astronony #visualobserving

Here's what I worked on this weekend. The Summer Southern Milky Way! Using Canon R6, 70mm Zoom Lens @f/5.6, ISO 6400. A stack of 45sx10 frames, tracked on a Sky Guider. The data was captured at Cherry Springs State Park on 8/26. #astrophotography #astronomy #milkyway 🔭📷🌌 #stilllearning

Here is a wide field shot I took at Cherry Springs Star Party back in June. Just getting around to processing it. Shows a lot of the dynamic of a star party... Canon Ra mirrorless, f2.8,15s, ISO 6400. #astrophotography #astronomy 🔭📷🌌

It doesn't get much better than a Cherry Springs Sunset on a clear night. The anticipation just adds to the dark sky effect of that park.

Looking forward to this year's #CherrySpringsStarParty #CSSP2025 I came a day early to work out the kinks on my new astro-camper. Had a rainstorm, but was able to do some binoculars observing in the sucker holes that passed through with the clouds! Ready to go! Bring on those clear skies. #astronomy

Sadly tonight, clouds are rolling in and hiding a perfectly wonderful Aurora display (Kp=7). But alas, I can still see some color through the clouds... 🔭📷 #astrophotography

On vacation and have not processed full data sets yet, but had a great night! Some #SeeStar and ASIAir/Redcat action going on here. #astrophotography #astronomy 🔭📷

Some m81/82 data that I'm working on. I gathered about 14 hours of data from many scopes and many sessions over the years. I should have been pickier about grabbing sharper data, and what is that odd blue flare there below m81? Well fun project for the day either way. #astrophotography 🔭 📷

I had a fun day of working on the Kopernik Observatory 20" telescope today. We've had a configuration issue that has prevented the German Flip of the scope. Great support from the friendly folks at Astrometric Instruments! It has been a while since we saw this working properly. #astronomy #telescope

Great fun playing with the #lunareclipse tonight. Getting tired and can't wait to play with my data tomorrow! #astrophotography #astronomy 🔭📷

Doing some more "staying warm observing" with the SeeStar tonight. Moon, m63 and m101. These were processed on my phone only using android software and SeeStar software. #astrophotography 🔭

My #Seestar S50 braved the cold for me the other night, and 20 minutes on M42 had a good result. #astrophotography 🔭📷

The Flaming Star Nebula (IC 405/SH2-229) using a. #SeeStar About an hour of data. So happy to score this partial night after harsh winter weather and cold have ruined the Upstate NY skies. Great to be out there!! Amazing what this scope can pull off...

Something I've been working on is how to get contrast on open star clusters and to get the coloring to pop. I'm not quite there yet, but here is my latest attempt at NGC 7789 Carolyn's Rose. This is about 35 minutes of RGB each. SVX102T and a ZWO ASI2600MM Pro camera. #astronomy #astrophotography 🔭📷

Just amazing to me that there were over 260 launches in 2024. An amazing fact! #spaceflight #launches #nasa #space

Another one from October 10th #Aurora outbreak. This is my personal observatory under the greenish sky, literally minutes before the bigger storm broke loose. #astrophotography

My first deep sky astrophoto. NGC 7331 Taken with Kopernik Observatory's 20" OGS R/C & FLI Proline imaging system back in 2017. I'm very thankful to the great people and equipment I've had access to that have helped develop my #astrophotography 🔭 I'll be using this rig more in the coming winter.

When imaging a new object, I'll image it 20ish minutes & process for a sense of framing. Was I surprised what I found at NGC 6883. A wonderful dark nebula, a Wolf-Rayet Star (WR 134) in that ring/bubble, and tons of h-Alpha dust/gas. I'm going back to this spot for sure. #astrophotography #astronomy
