I was there when the Metroid "fans" harassed both Retro and the Donkey Kong fandom when Tropical Freeze was new. They've never let go of their grudge over the missteps of Other M, and get needlessly aggressive over the smallest issues for 16 years now.

Maybe they're like Orel's dad Clay from Morel Orel, who saw getting hit by his father as means of affection after Clay accidentally gave his mother a heart attack which killed her, and caused his already distant father to ignore him.

They're banking on people not watching or forgetting the multiple amounts of footage out there. Which is pretty brazen, and I doubt will have much pull.
