NOAA/GFDL scientist, Rutgers & Princeton lecturer, but just a regular guy who pays attention to the weather, the oceans, and climate change. My research focuses a lot on sea level rise. Posts are my own. Engagements do not mean endorsement.
Regarding the NE US storm threats next week: The early week system lacks energy from the subtropical jet, despite the polar jet stream driving so far south. This makes me tap the brakes a bit. The late week storm might be a differerent story, per the GFS. #wxsky #wxtwitter #NJWX #NYWX #PAWX

It's been a long time since I've found a weather pattern worth posting about here in NJ!

Lots of exciting stuff to talk about for the second week of January. Two decent chances of accumulating snow as well as some extremely cold air.

Bundle and buckle up!

King Tide week in San Diego and along the SoCal coast. A glimpse of what sea level rise might look like in this region. Curious to see what photos emerge this week … #CAWX

It’s been pretty wet and rainy across #MDWX and #VAWX. Streamflows are running high.

The snow drought continues though for many in the Northeast. Nearly two years since Philly and NYC have seen an inch of snow. ❄️
