Ludwig is easily the worst boss in BB with a real fight. I spent like an hour on the bastard and then one-tried the Orphan. Ludwig sucks.
Maria is a lot more deserving of praise than him, although she's on the easy side of things.

A movie that's much better at it is Reign on Me, which has Shadow of the Colossus as its main driver. I recommend it if you haven't seen it! The actors actually played the game AND it was pre-release of SotC!

I've been that friend. When people are that devoid of hope, you need to really know them to get through to them. The thing that means the most to say is probably that you're there for them, but not just letting it remain words. Showing them through action, whatever form that may take.
