Would be a waste of a perfectly good twirl if they didn't.

They wouldn't let us draw her like that.

Personal goals were achieved, and in the long run that's much more important for our growth than watching "numbers go up". 😉

You got to try a new story format and we both conferred a little about the content, which led to some edits and a better result on all ends.
For those reasons, I think it was a quite valuable exercise for the involved and, the journey being the destination - really rather successful.

Looking at it from the personal creative angle, I made a drawing I spent some worthwhile time on, and got art advice for by another artist, @agonwolfe.bsky.social, who has become a valuable conversation partner for me in recent months.

Subjects that require more in-depth engagement on the audience's part always tend to be less accessible, and therefore, reacted to. The story came with artwork and both require knowledge about the subject matter going beyond just our two posts.

You know, while there is a certain truth to both the story and the art being a "failure" strictly in terms of reception, I don't think either of us should be too hard on ourselves.
First of all, considering the "publishing platform" - we both know social media is a fickle and random beast.

The darker furred version. Which suits a skunk better, too.

Difficult. If they are to have a dark fur colour they might need lighter body outlines.

For the same reason I can't "separate art from artist". As I see it, art is a personal matter deeply connected to who the artist is as a person. If the well is poisoned, why should I pretend the water coming from it isn't compromised?

Thanks, it's a (fun) challenge trying to reinterpret characters drawn in an original style so unlike what I usually do.

(Seriously, though - I can't quite explain the sheer state of the current Heathcliff comic strip. Just, what *is* that? 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️)
November 19, 2025 at 8:29 AM
Oh, I remember The Catillac Cats from my Saturday mornings in the 90s. Not least because they frontlined for the best iteration of Heathcliff. I only knew Heathcliff from that cartoon at first. Discovering the original comic strip later was ... something.

Now those are two names I haven't heard in a long time ...

Thanks! 😊

Thank you! 😁

Thanks, so does your version! One of the reasons why I wanted to try, too! 😁
