It's laughable and plays right into his pretext. They should say "Trump's the only threat to Greenland and we'll kill Americans who invade it."
January 14, 2026 at 7:14 PM
It would be better for Europe to say: "The only threat to Greenland's security is Trump's plans to illegally invade it. We're deploying troops and resources to defend against US aggression." I don't see how playing along with his bullshit pretext helps.

Good the-fuck riddance.

Europe should've starting preparing for the US to be an overt enemy when Trump won in 2016. For ten years I've been shaking my head, looking at Europe, thinking "What the fuck are you guys doing over there?"

This catastrophic misallocation of resources (fueled by Big Tech long being completely out of ideas, human susceptibility to perceive agency in the inanimate, and decades of science fiction) could not be happening without this deluge of fawning media clickbait.

LLMs are probabilistic Mad Libs. They don't even know what they are talking about, much less have any form of consciousness.

Also, the hallucinating products are useless to functioning organizations and serious people.

First question I asked AI was a simple abstract algebra question with an easily-explainable answer. AI gave me a confident wrong answer. All I needed to understand the technology is worthless.

Article VI clause 2:

...all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land...

Few talk about how presidents just scrapping treaties because they feel like it is unconstitutional, a violation of their oath, impeachable.

Sometime politics overrides principle and common sense, but I think everyone should say "There's no point talking to you about a new trade agreement when you're violating our current trade agreement (WTO, USMCA, etc.)"

Completely true, but the voters ended our constitutional democracy and we're now ruled by authoritarian whim. Anyone not expecting this - and him to get away with it - isn't tuned into reality.

Love Spanish. Always excited to speak it with immigrants who visit the house. Should be a co-equal national language with English, given the US has the second-most Spanish speakers after Mexico.

In Manila, traffic is so bad people bring portable toilets in their cars. Sometimes they try to the leave for the weekend, aren't able to get anywhere, and spend most of the weekend trying to get back.

I see government, business, and the media cheering unfettered population growth and I'm saying (on behalf of most in my social circle): growth harms quality of life.
July 1, 2025 at 6:51 AM
I read you as saying "Other than the numerous factors that have cratered quality of life for many, things haven't changed that much. And people's quality of life is being cratered in most US cities." I don't disagree with that.
July 1, 2025 at 6:51 AM
My point is: I don't think Seattle quality of life has deteriorated because I'm old and grumpy. Traffic is objectively much worse than 30 years ago. In the 1980s a maid could by a house north of Fremont (my aunt did this).
