To borrow a famous quote from a retro connoisseur of the action variety:

Totally Normal Gaming.

Also, not a rom hack or demo. No controller adapters. Certainly some shenanigans though.

Got to see one of these in person today! It's an Atari Video Music. Basically a hardware music visualizer. You may remember the crazy effects Winamp and Windows Media Player 9 had. This was that in physical form. Munchies not included.

@ctrl-alt-rees.com did a video on this, link in reply below.

Also, since I had the system booted up, here's the NEC install of Microsoft Bob running on Windows 98 SE!

So, I printed out more RAM storage trays. Not 100% of my collection, but maybe 85?

72-pin EDO and FPM, SDRAM, DDR1-3 on desktop, up to DDR4 laptop.

Alright retro community. Thoughts on legacy Micro Machines? I had a couple of small sets as a kid and want to get back into it. Not sure about prices though. Many seem really high. Or is that currently the norm?

Well, Silicon Alley Recyclers has closed. Saw on Facebook today. Bummer.

Glad I got to stop in there recently and save a couple of CRTs, optical drives, and some shareware.

I wish the owners the best of luck in their future endeavors.

This makes me happy 🤗

And yes, mostly because it's 1234. And if I remember and get there, I'll post again when it's 5678.

Got me some of them there fancy filament @museumjoe.bsky.social and Polar Filament made.

It does match very well. The platinum also closely matches my NEC (Logitech) mouse! Great job!

Printed out an ADB port cover for my PB3400c because, why not?

So, I did some digging into the 14" Everview CRT. It's also sold under Everex, Supercom Multisystems, and... Commodore! Yes, they made PC's, and as with the C64 and Amiga, they outsourced their displays.

And almost certain this is a KDS product.

That IBM 4707 CRT is troublesome. Half a horizontal line. Corrosive glue addressed, nope. Found and fixed solder issues, now have a full horizontal line (vertical collapse.) Replaced vertical deflection IC, still have a horizontal line. Other than caps I got nothing.

Update on the eBay CTX CRT: started cleaning it, and yup, it's yellow from tobacco smoke. It's gross and smells. Left it in the garage for a bit and that seems to have helped with that. Time for a full teardown. See alt text for description of each.

So, it survived. But MUCH yellow-er than in the listing. But it does in fact work!

Currently in the garage to air-out. Then it'll get a cleaning.

What's the over/under on this being intact?

Also, this was delivered by FedEx. Wonder if the UPS box ticked them off...

And please, someone take my eBay privileges away, please!

Probably should show the Everview, right?

Despite the fact the rear label says it's a SuperVGA monitor, I can't get it above 640x480@60Hz. Just freaks out. Also freaks out if I have both it and the ThinkPad's display on, even when set to the same resolution. But it's small, lightweight, and works!
September 8, 2025 at 8:27 PM
Here's the IBM G70! Looks good and all that!

Also, I kinda think the VGA connector is dual "beige-grey"! An homage to the 5151/5153/5154/5175?

More testing needed, but I'm satisfied so far!

So I accidentally deleted this post. But...

I tried looking up info on the CRT's I recently got. IBM G70 and Everview TCM-0440. Not much info on the latter, but it might be related to Korea Data Systems (KDS). Both seem to work well.
