I left for Mastodon years ago. Of course it was hard to lose so many connections. But in the end, losing the negativity fueled algorithm was worth it.
But yeah, still monetarily supporting that Nazi asshole, is absolute insanity. Communities can be rebuilt. New connections can be made.
