Thrilled to add this hand-painted tile by Minton, Hollins & Co. to my collection. The unknown decorator, clearly an artist of considerable talent, captured the frenetic energy of a terrified hare running for its life, pursued by two elegant greyhounds, one of which is shown mid-pounce. Poor hare!

This 19th-century child’s plate by Davenport Pottery is rare for depicting a boy playing with his greyhound—typically shown only in hunting scenes. Even more unusual, the plate explicitly labels the dog as a “greyhound,” signaling its role as both pet and companion.

Unmarked but unmistakable! I suspect this ceramic greyhound head wall plaque was crafted by Elite Pottery of Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, likely in the 1920s. The fine detailing and elegant form are hallmarks of their work—proof that even without a maker’s mark, some pieces still bark for themselves.

The aloof-looking pair of greyhounds on this child's plate appear to possess exceptionally low prey drives-utterly unmoved by the lagomorph darting away in the background.

Take a closer look! This charming arrangement-a sighthound spill vase/figurine paired with two loving cups-is composed entirely of miniatures. At just 4 inches tall, the vase might best be described as an Italian greyhound, with the cups standing a mere 1.5 inches high.

Produced by the Edmé Samson Factory of Paris between 1870 and 1900, this porcelain perfume bottle (foreground) is exquisitely cast in the form of a greyhound at rest, its slender legs and signature whip-like tail tucked gracefully beneath its body.
