The worst part is, I try so hard not to internalize it. It's not my fault, I'm doing the best I can. But I still know, my best isn't good enough. I can't make sure everyone succeeds, or even makes it out of high school

I don't have a response to "it doesn't matter" other than just taking things one day at a time. But what good does that do when you feel like there's nothing good waiting for you eventually? It's so frustrating

These kids have become so desensitized to everything going on around them. They are depressed and don't see where their future is headed. And even with the encouragement I offer, how do I look a kid in the eyes who tells me "it doesn't matter" and tell them things will be alright
