It's mission based from what I can tell.
I experimented a small amount and you just post a quest and have your friends join it if they are in your lobby or your private lobby.
It's just for completing missions and farming boss stuff mostly. I'm excited to try it personally even if it's limited.

I've played every monster hunter. This ui terrible. So many bad design choices this time around.
