If your superstar doesn’t get the job done you just accept it. You can’t take the bat out of his hands there, now he might not get the chance to bat again

With that favorable bounce on the wall that’s just a criminal call by the third base coach

it’s so funny because trumpet/cornet can be such a melodic, sweet, and beautiful instrument when played with restraint and control, it’s just not in the culture of competitive young trumpeters to do so because it’s all about shout sections and swearing you hit a triple high C the other day

shea do you have a single hating bone in your body? your enthusiasm for the game itself is honestly admirable, I could never do it. I’m out here rooting against the thunder like they kicked my grandma’s cane out from under her for no other reason than I think SGA is slightly overrated

are you adhd by any chance? because i’m this same way tbh, I take prescribed adderall and barely notice a difference while apparently it affects normal people enough to be one of the most restricted drugs in the country lol

Call the goal an OG and that might change tbf, it’s debatable whether Johnson successfully took a “shot”. Which really is the most beautiful part of that game if you think about it.

To limit “fantasy” to worldbuilding where magic can only explicitly be without rules is to completely stifle the genre and remove the possibility of any magic being deliberate.

If it can be controlled, it ipso facto could be understood, and thus people would logically seek to understand it better.

I’d argue because he directly engages with the idea of “magic is just science we don’t understand yet” in the worldbuilding itself, yet still always incorporates aspects of magic that are more mystical, he negates the possibility of it even being a criticism, because it is both scifi *and* fantasy.

This is what, for all the (debatable) criticism of his prose, Sanderson is so good at. Rhythm of War, the fourth Stormlight book, goes into this paradox in depth as two researchers, one ancient and magical and the other a normal human, try to innovate in the magic system via the scientific method.
