It ended being a rave party, but hey, had fun anyway.

For the narrow subset of #econsky people clinging to their Stata and crunching big datasets with @duckdb.org, I have vibe coded a DuckDB extension that reads .dta files.

Give it a spin and report issues! (Thanks, @anthropic.com Claude Code and the Python Pandas implementation.)

Austrian Airlines is pitching Budapest for me.

I mean, I love the city. But as long as this is how well AI understands us, I feel safe.

I see a lot of scripts where the file name encodes some structure. Like analysis_this.do, analysis_that.do and plot_this.do, plot_that.do

If you have such a clear structure, you are best served by folders. It just as easy to write "src/analysis/whatever.do" as "src/analysis_whatever.do".

The fact that i’ve been listening to Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Donovan and John Lennon these past days doesn’t mean I won’t defend capitalism in a degrowth debate. koren.dev/events/2025-...

I like to keep my music out of my science.

Dylan goes full electric here and his voice is scruffier than usual, but what a great live album!

This the kind of music vinyl is invented for.

Go watch the Bob Dylan biopic. Timothée Chalamet is great. #nowspinning

Rebalanced the tonearm of my player. I just followed the step-by-step instructions of the manufacturer, but it helps that I now understand why it matters.

This is the only thing I use to take notes. Reading a paper, drafting an email, working on a model - I do all this in Obsidian.

It has an excellent Markdown editor, all your formatting is immediately visible. This includes realtime rendering of LaTeX equations, which is a must-have for me.

In dog walking mode. Zero grooming, but also zero fucks given. The air is cool, the sun is shining, and my son takes a mean portrait.

Home sick, entertaining myself by writing a Stata parser in Julia. Inspired by Gary Bernhardt, aided by GitHub Copilot.

Clean coding was always about collaborating with others, including your future self. Now others include GitHub Copilot.

Use proper function signatures and good function and variable names, and Copilot will be better able to help you.

As soon as I entered `if`, Copilot could fill in the rest.
