Iranians have trusted the great powers repeatedly and made several deals, but the promises were never fulfilled.

In reality, Iran has long sought better relations with America and Europe.
But there’s a deeper historical context: for two centuries, Britain, Russia, and later America have interfered in Iran’s politics — removing rulers and installing new ones.

What they don’t mention: Great powers have quietly shaped and tolerated Iran’s behavior.
Where I believe they lie: in claiming Iran doesn’t want normal relations with the West.

What they say: Iran is an irresponsible and dangerous state.
What they don’t highlight: The West has admitted it never truly wanted the Islamic Republic to fall.

It’s simply an outdated, unnecessary policy that has no reason to continue.
