East Van municipal spectator.

So at a profit?

Any opportunity to get mayors from North Van, Burnaby, Richmond, Poco to call in and defend the lack of supportive housing in their municipalities? Jas Johal articulated the issue well with Pete Fry yesterday.

Great interview. Happy to see Jas do a good job of articulating the frustrations people have. Is Sim’s approach the best way? Perhaps not. But he’s at least shining a light on it and FINALLY got an acknowledgment from Ravi Kahlon on it.

Regardless your opinion of Ken Sim he’s spot on here: Vancouver takes on a massive and disproportionate burden when it comes to social housing.

I'm just happy we're having the conversation and shining a light on the hugely disproportionate burden we take on. I don't think ABC gets more seats in the byelection, doesn't bug me tbh.

Everyone who takes issue with this motion needs to bring that same energy to offer space and ideas in their neighbourhoods.

Concede that Vancouver punches above its weight, and that one neighbourhood takes on most of the burden. If we all get on the same page then we can discuss ways forward.

The winning strategy with Trump is he must be able to feel like he got a win or that opponents got a loss. Toxic office politics with a middle manager stuff.

Love or hate Trudeau but he was good at this.

For 2 - This imbalance is across both shelters and supportive. Let’s see an amendment - Pause building where the density is already disproportionately high. Show we’re being heard.

I know it wasn’t left of center parties that removed those options. I also sure didn’t see they haven’t brought any energy or even discussion about the imbalance of social housing across the city.

And we begged for that discussion.

Lots of homeless around Commercial Broadway, no one scrambling to build shelters around there. Would have been nice to have some energy for the “where else in the city” conversation last election.

Let’s be honest there’s little to no political will even from “left of centre” parties to equitably share this burden. 2400 Motel, Jericho barracks quietly removed as options to house homeless under previous council as people were pointed to The East Side.

TBH if my employer fired me for calling out a nazi salute, I wouldn't want to go back to that employer.

>“There’s going to be some form of supportive housing in that community,” he said.

Why is is the Prov and Ravi hyper-focused on Vancouver? We're not the only municipality in the region. Space and resources exist East of Boundary, North of the Inlet and South of Fraser
