Presenter said the Welcoming City Ordinance protects citizen rights and prohibits city officials from sharing sensitive information with federal agents. In response to the Commissioner's second question he deferred to CPD to answer that question stating he didn't feel it was his place to answer that

Commissioner Minor (now present) asked the presenter what kind of communication the city could hope for if there was National Guard deployment in Chicago. Presenter said he is relying on community partners to report on ICE federal agent sightings

Commissioner Gottlieb wanted to get more clarity on when CPD is obligated to cooperate with ICE forces. Presenter responded that CPD cannot intervene or assist with any activities unless directed by a federal court order, including giving out addresses or private information.

Interim President Terry announced that they are still seeking a COPA Chief who will lead investigations on police misconduct. They have met with subject matter experts on police accountability to inform their search for a new COPA Chief

Update from Commission Piemonte on traffic stops: new traffic stop policy is being dictated by a Consent Decree, the commission received input from several community meetings and subject matter experts to inform amended policy. They are continuously seeking to inform community led policy

The commission is now hearing nominations for the next President. Commissioner Navarijo nominated interim president Remel Terry. Commissioner Gottlieb nominated former Commissioner Abierre Minor who is not present at the meeting. The next president will be elected during the October meeting

The first speaker giving public comment is speaking on the need to elect a CCPSA leader who is in alignment with progressive traffic stop policy and represents the same federal resistance politics that Mayor Brandon Johnson upholds.
