The categories are a joke in his show. And they're designed to please their perceived audience. There is no love displayed, to me, from the people that run the show regarding a respect for the craft. They let anyone related to the movie industry get more time than the people that make games.

What you were saying doesn't match with the idea of accepting someone lowering a score due to the type of content they dislike, though. If the reviewer hated the scares, that's their review.

On the whole, it is very stupid how almost all games honoring the year's releases happen on that actual year, instead of months into the next one.

We don't need these events. Companies can run their own shows just fine, like Directs etc, and plenty of hit games only announced themselves on their own. When it comes to awards, award shows are about honoring the makers, not being a disguised trailer show. Movies etc. came out the prior year.

Reviews were always supposed to be a person sharing their opinion, and you as a reader/viewer would find a reviewer you seemed to agree with and follow their lead. The concept of the games industry being different and needing "impartiality" is an idea almost exclusive to games.

I had no idea some people think they're all canon

He was a meme for being a huge sellout before this show. Infamously "the Dorito pope". Defenders point to him making some video documentary-type content that I feel @noclipvideo.bsky.social does much better and transparently these days.

Maybe Keighley shouldn't be in power at all three top events for announcements like these

The Game Awards event is now so cemented as the place for the most trailers, post E3, so they at the very least feel invincible in terms of guaranteed eyes on the streams

Wait, RTS is what you said. A genre I am very unfamiliar with. I played Red Alert 1 a little as a kid is all, haha

I think for input, turn-based allows you time to think what to press at least

My girlfriend can play Silksong just fine, but has a lot of trouble with Super Mario Wonder because she doesn't find it natural to hold a button to run. It really opened my eyes to just how hard it is to make a universally accessible game.

I just couldn't think of a term. But I would put it as an option.

Gotta add a thing that I find easy and wish others did! We used to be forced to walk and run by tilt stick pressure, but then all games threw a run button back in there, because tons of people can't accurately slightly tilt the stick correctly, so walk and run got separated again.

But a lot of players struggle to lightly tilt a stick, hence run buttons returned

Always wondered if I wanted to ever try perhaps a grid menu, and you tilt the right stick and pick things in a fashion that you see when you test controller dead zones, the line "stretches" across the usable stick radius. Probably has a name.

Menu-heavy games like proper RPGs make my mind go blank for a long time, but I get there. Takes hours though.

I'm the exact opposite. Grew up playing on console, so any kind of complex keyboard and mouse interaction, specially if I need to pay attention to multiple elements (RTS's) is incredibly difficult to me

Possibly only click stick when in dead zone 🤔

Considering other button complexities they do, I would put it as "tap Use once" since it's unusable away from items and people

I don't get how From has spent two games putting crouch on Left Stick Click, I hear many people unintentionally crouching (or leaping off the horse). They're tense games!
