i really always wondered how jae was totally free of karma but that's so interesting.... i think he was definitely jailed in the northern palace for this purpose exactly. there was someone conspiring to eventually help him escape,free of karma and the curse...

damn i kinda popped off with my theory back then… i think i kinda see what jaewon did to yeongwoon while seo-in was gone. he probably showed him the photo of them kissing and said it would ruin their family and make his dad lose the election or some stupid crap.

then there's also the issue of yukrim, who seems to be aware of everything.... maybe he set jae free? i think ryeong finding out yukrim took his teacher's spot will set off some sort of realization for him for past events and maybe recontextualize things that happened before he was punished...

honestly this chapter kind of reinforces my thoughts that ryeong's teacher planned everything for her grand mission to change the law of the heavens.... right down to ryeong becoming a demon. she KNEW it would happen, his existence alone showing that monsters can have souls and even be ascendants.

time for my paljae reread… i always found it odd that munryeong makes it a point to say that he alone killed his master. it always made me think someone else was there… possibly the person who told him that his teacher had orchestrated his misfortunes?? we never exactly saw how he found out.

ryeong’s teacher purposefully concealed his eyes because otherwise he would not have been accepted as a “white one” whatever the heck that means…. everything gets more and more sus as the story goes on 😭
