Be great if the world could see its way to being less of a fascistic nightmare over the next decade. Not holding my breath too hard.
Right? If I wanted to make up a plausible sounding lie, I could do that myself, I don't need to outsource that so I can pretend it might be truthful.

Given it was built in an unsurvivable desert wasteland out of pure hubris as a place to launder mob money and hide corpses, every day Vegas doesn't look like this IRL feels like some kind of continuity error in reality.

I have a drawing somewhere from pre-teen prehistory of a zoid tyrannosaurus of some sort surrounded by World Eaters - White Dwarf 180 had come out not so long before and I had precious little idea of what titans looked like. Made a real mess of that cover mounted Khorne berserker, let me tell you.

7-of-9 and T'Pol both baffled me because they're both obviously sexualised by design, but both of them look so unsexy, perpetually uncomfortable, and are barely allowed to act, despite their actors being great (and IRL smokeshows). When Seven appears in Picard she's stunning and fantastic to watch.

I have every sympathy for conflict avoidant people, but that kind of ghosting leaves the ghostee genuinely unclear of what they could have done differently or how they could have fixed it. It's not just a dead friendship, it's the dread that it will happen again because it couldn't be learned from.

Starting the year with a heartfelt expression of thanks and love for a social circle that I can no longer talk to any of by the end of it feels like a fucking tragedy, and it's literally no exaggeration to say it was almost not survivable. I still love those fuckers, but what they did was *so* cruel
December 27, 2025 at 5:40 PM
I feel this, deeply. There's very little that can be said in the heat of the moment that couldn't be evened out or fixed with patience and communication, but the tools we depend on to block malfeasants also block rapprochement. Abandonment is cruel and inevitably sends the exile to dark places.

No, I mean Peak is one of those games that no one would play for the sheer joy of playing, it exists to be talked over and not to be paid attention to.
December 2, 2025 at 9:50 PM
Like, if you want to hang out with friends, and they're playing one of these games, prepare to have your conversation interrupted constantly by urgent callouts to do some basic repetitive task. 10 times out of 10 I would rather the friend hangout without the timewaster game attached.
December 2, 2025 at 1:18 PM
I 100% agree with this sentiment overall, but I would consider "friendslop" a viable use of the term. There's a definite genre of games that would be mind-numbingly boring to play solo that depend on interactivity to offer any value. We're not holding Peak to the same standard as Horizon Zero Dawn.

I am too, based on dose information supplied by GenderGP (I got *something* from them at least, before they dropped me like a hot potato), but if I ever want to sign up for bottom surgery I'd still have to get it legally prescribed from the 40 year waitlist. I did not pick a good time for this, lol.
November 20, 2025 at 9:52 PM
This Anne service Finster is speaking up for appears to be basically providing the service GenderGP *used* to provide, back when it was staffed by people. Is it more dependable? No idea, but it can't be much less dependable, and it's still one of the most attractive options in the UK right now.
November 20, 2025 at 9:45 PM
Couldn't guess at their motives beyond cost-cutting, but it's not like they cut user costs. And your typical person looking to use the service just sees there's live chat support, they have no idea what that live chat is (not) capable of, so you don't find out til you're already giving them money
November 20, 2025 at 9:44 PM
Literally all that chatbot has the capability to do is to refer you to "information" pages on their blog, some of which are dead links, because it's that fucking awful.
November 20, 2025 at 9:40 PM
Convincing them to put you through to a human, who doesn't exist, or to resolve billing, subscription or prescription issues, when they have no access for any of those things, achieves nothing. I may as well direct my support request to you, you've got just as much authority to update their systems.
November 20, 2025 at 9:38 PM
For the love of god, don't go with GenderGP. Whatever standards or reputation they used to have is corroded beyond repair by their hard pivot to AI, it's genuinely impossible to get customer support that's not from a chatbot, and even most trans-sympathetic GPs don't work with them any more.
November 20, 2025 at 9:07 PM
I think most of the trans community would prefer Starmer's cruel indifference over Wes Streeting's actual malice. Both of them are scraping the bottom of the barrel, but Streeting as PM would genuinely be a nightmare turn of events.

I was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt with the bathroom shit a while back, she was placed in an unwinnable situation against her will. This OTOH is a totally unforced error. I get the political reality of needing votes but this is surrendering the narrative completely.

Personally I think they're right to do what they do, in keeping it purposefully vague - there almost certainly are full blown AIs around (like the land raiders that have been known to drive themselves in cases of crew failure), but they're way less widespread and we'll never know which is which.
March 6, 2025 at 9:53 AM
I partly agree, but counterpoint: the notion of humanity having a strict ban on AI but still using it across the full breadth of its technology, especially in a monotasked & pseudo-lobotomised way, and just calling it something else is 100% in keeping with the way the Imperium and Mechanicus operate

They move! When enough people have found them they redeploy and shake pursuit. I don't know what they teach those kids in the Schola Progenium but they sure are sneaky.

Sea elf supporter for life! They always struck me as more RPG / Dogs of War friendly than high or wood elves, curious to know if you unearth anything about why they never did much with them outside of Marienburg.
